| Welcome to the Hotel Iraq.... |
| 06.26.05 (12:41 pm) [edit] |
"You can check in, but you can never leave...."
As the war in Iraq continues to be the debacale that any sane, thinking eight year old could have predicted when it started, I find what is going on in America now rather interesting:
"I believe there are more foreign fighters coming into Iraq than there were six months ago." As to the overall strength of the insurgency, Abizaid said it was "about the same" as six months ago."
This came from General John Abazian, Commander of the Shit Hotel. It sounds rather different that the "We are winning" crap we hear from Rummy and Haliburton.
The administration contends that Iraqis must be able to defend their own country against a lethal insurgency before a timeline for bringing home troops can be considered.
Deja vu is a really interesting thing, isn't it? In fact, I recall hearing the same line from Nixon in the early seventies and we know where that ended up.
I also get a kick out of the flag-wavers who flamed me so hard after the election in January, the one, ahem, where the Sunni population did not vote. The war has not wound down since then and has in fact probably heated up. Since there is no real reporting from Iraq outside the Green Zone, it is hard to tell.
The fact is, the Americans have REALLY FUCKED UP in Iraq from the first day they got there. Imagine the logic of disbanding the army and intelligence services, even the police! The really pathetic part is that this useless war will continue for years. Now 1738 Americans are dead with no end in sight.

It must be America's fault.
