1581 and Thirty Years On, Victory is Right Around the Corner.
04.30.05 (9:15 am) [edit]
Kind of an interesting week in many ways. First, there have now been 1581 Americans killed in Iraq. Contrary to the sanitized lies coming from the US media, the war is NOT slowing down. What is slowing down is reporting; any western reporter stepping out of the Green Zone may as well have a sign labeled "Kidnap and Behead Me" around his/her neck. Of course victory is either happening now or is just around the corner.
Which brings us to what happened thirty years ago this week. The remaining Americans in Vietnam were snatched off the embassy roof in what many Americans like to call victory. I vividly remember, as a ten year old boy, watching it live on TV.
Of course Iraq is a US victory. We have been told do many times and by the same logic victory is right around the corner. They could not be wrong, could they? Of course not. To state otherwise is anti-American.
I wonder if the family of Anthony J. Davis Jr, who died at the tender age of 22, feel the same way?

Random Observations, Korea Lies
04.16.05 (9:47 am) [edit]
The Korea Lies is really at it again. First, I must point out that one of the greatest xenophobic jingosits of the 2002 Race Riots,Oh Young-jin, better known as Bennie the Banana Oh, has now left the Great Motherland to study in America. Go figure; one of the most inflamitory racists I have ever had the displeasure to read is now in Hated America, spending Korean money in the land of the baby rapers. Hypocrite!
Speaking of hypocracy, it is amazing just how bad the editors of the Korea Lies are. Take this xenophobic treat:
Korea Redefines Role of Foreign Capital Policy Shifts From Desperate Pursuit to Equal Treatment http://times.hankooki.com/lpage/biz/200504/kt20 05041517053811910.htm" title="http://times.hankooki.com/lpage/biz/200504/kt20 05041517053811910.htm" target="_blank"http://times.hankooki.com/lpa...
Now, anybody who knows anything about how Korea works knows what this means: "we want big-nose's money here but we do not want him to make any profits on Korean labour. How dare he take bankrupt Korean companies that we milked dry with corruption, shape them up and sell them at a profit! What is more, big nose will not pay the required bribes! " To whit:
Lone Star, Newbridge Capital, Carlyle Group and other international funds played a key role in helping South Korea overcome the 1997 financial crisis. But in the process of investing in financially-troubled firms and the property market, some foreign funds are suspected of bypassing rules and relying on irregular deals.
Translation: They did not grease the right people. Tell me one Korean company that does not cheat, lie and steal and I will swim across the West Canada Ocean and eat Korean feces for dessert.
``I believe it’s time for sellers of local companies to re-consider what is best for the financial industry and market as a whole,’’
Translation: Do not sell to big nose or else!
``The FSC will root out any unfair transactions, false bookkeeping and disclosures. This policy will be applied not only to domestic investors but to foreign ones too, without favoritism or discrimination.’’
Try not to laugh too loudly on that one. You can read the rest on your own.
Next, we will examine the Brilliant Editor of the Korea Lies, for in the same issue, comes this piece:
Korea Ranks at Bottom Attracting FDI http://times.hankooki.com/lpa...
``FDI inward performance index,’’ which measures the ratio of foreign investment in a country to total investment in the world, came to 0.314, ranking 120th out of 140 countries surveyed
Wow, that is really cool. I wonder if ANYBODY in Korea can make the link between the last story I commented on and the lack of FDI. I doubt it. Any call for a logical thought results in temper tantrums.
On to our next xenophobic gem:
Activists Wage Campaign Against Consumption of McDonald's Food http://times.hankooki.com/lpa...
This comment provides the best take I can think of:
Fast food is bad for our health. We should not forget that the largest fast food chain in Korea with some of the lowest quality food is Lotteria. Strangely this company never receives any criticism. Is this because they`ve paid off the right newspapers and reporters? Or is it because it is domestically owned? Either way, we must remember that all fast food is equally bad whether from an international or domestic giant.
Lotteria is the worst slop I have ever had the misfortune of forcing down my gullet. It is not even beef, it is processed pork mystery meat. I remember the one and only time I had a Lotte Burger, it was covered in some kind of greasy sweet sauce, with lard running out of it. Any protests outside a Lotteria? Fat chance. Besides, why would anybody eat that shit in Korea when you can get an excellent Korean lunch for less than fast food shit.
And Finally, from my comments:
lol im American, doing some research for a paper, and I must say, your *just a little* biased for someone who claims to be trying to tell the truth... I mean I dont know too much about these issues but just reading what you write i can tell that you're not very nonpartisan about it.
If you are American, I am Mary Poppins. Like my flying umbrella? Of course the rant is biased; everything is written from some sort of bias. I have never for one second pretended to be balanced. The reason I write my blog is to counter little umemployed Korean Trolls such as yourself (know as netiizens) and the incredibly biased and xenophobic Korean media.
I hate all these people online on blogs or whatever who claim to be "debunking" lies, but when doing so have all this propaganda on their sites.
Get a dictionary and find out what "propaganda" is. It is not when somebody disagrees with the Pyongyang Party Line. During the whole Japanese Hate-in I had a Japanese friend staying with me. Not one person in Japan remotely gives a shit when Korea goes on a hate it. The only reaction my friend had was laughter what he that was his retarded third cousins. Such actions cause Canadians to shake their heads in disbelied and amusement. Believe it or now, chopping your finger off and thowing it over the embassy gate is INCREDIBLY STUPID. Korea will never progress into the big leagues if such this continue. Such things will continue; you make the logical connection to create the truism. Such actions only further drive investment away from Korea and result in even more unemployed university graduates such as youself, which leads to more angry Korean boys who cannot accept responsiblilty for what they are doing to themelves by such actions.
Yes some of the stuff you say is true, but the way you write stuff... Suffice it to say, because of people like you, I completely will support the government when they take away journalistic rights from people like you. Btw I think just the same of most of those Koreans who post stuff like the things you quote.
Well, I doubt what you want will happen. There is no law sayting I cannot comment of political happenings. Besides, tBlog is hosted in the USA and that pesky First Ammedment thing gets in the way. I live in Canada and we have that equally pesky Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
And Finally, if you do not like the rant, do not read it. That is the ultimate freedom.
