What is happening at Korea Lies?
02.29.04 (9:22 am)   [edit]
For the first time I can remember, the Korea Lies actually makes some sense. Today's editorials:

http://times.hankooki.com/lpage/opinion/200402/ kt2004022920264011300.htm" title="http://times.hankooki.com/lpage/opinion/200402/ kt2004022920264011300.htm" target="_blank"http://times.hankooki.com/lpa...

The statement features the call for the ``denuclearization of the Korean peninsula,’’ among others. But the declaration is nothing but mere rhetoric that ignores reality _ the North Korean communists’ persistent nuclear threats.

For the first time, the Lies does not blame America for a situation created by the Norks to extort ever more "aid" from its neighbours. Seems even their Agent, Comrade Roh, isn't playing ball anymore. It is not America making any threats. America does not threaten much. It acts, rightly or wrongly.

``Differences, difficulties and contradictions,’’ as China called the obstacles in the talks, which are examples of North Korean’s stubborn brinkmanship.

It is all about that worst concept in Korea, "face." America seems to have learned too well from the 2002 Race Riots in the South about how to deal with Koreans: from strength. It is all they understand.

It is absurd that the North still demands that Washington first give up what it calls a hostile policy toward the reclusive state before it abandons its nuclear program entirely.

Amazing coming from the Lies. America is not the problem here. About time the Korean media stated the truth.

In particular, the North should consider a possibility that it may face a tougher situation, as the Bush administration could become more hawkish in coping with the nuclear question ahead of the presidential election in November.

"Possibility?" Definately. If the Norks wait until June it will be too late to get fertiliser for the spring planting. I do not see the Dear Leader's gut shrinking at all. There is no need for America to get "Hawkish" with the Dear Leader; starving him out is working very well, thank you. Koreans also have to realise that 90% of Americans cannot find Korea on a map. Non-issue.

Now to the one about prostitution in Korea, which is rampant, more than any place I have ever been. Sure it happens in places like the Philippines on a grand scale but in Korea, there is no neighbourhood that does not have a dae-baeng, double pole barbershop or a rooms salon. It is a big part of the culture.

The sex industry is flourishing in our society, contrary to the law. If one makes up his mind to buy sex, he can do so easily anywhere, from red light districts and various entertainment spots to the Internet.

This marks quite a change in mindset. For years Korea clung to the self deception that prostitution was "only for the US military. Interesting they admit the truth now.

But the question is how to translate the new law into action. We already have a good law to fight prostitution, made illegal by the Law on the Prevention of Prostitution, which punishes both the buyers and sellers of sex.

I am afraid it is too ingrained in Korean cultiure now. I would follow the Japanese model where it is confined to one, small, area. Close the barber shops and coffee rooms near schools, for example.

It is rare that johns are punished. If the authorities were determined to enforce the law strictly, they could arrest hundreds of buyers of sexual services in ``unauthorized’’ red light districts scattered across the nation in a couple of hours

The deep, dark secret of organised crime is left out here. The business is run my the Cho'po, who in turn pay the cops to look the other way. I also highly doubt that Korean malehood is terribly enthusiastic about enforcement of such laws.

The law on the punishment and prevention of prostitution should also be backed by another law to remove the unauthorized red light districts, such as notorious Miari Texas, in Seoul.

And like all the other "Crack-downs," this one will be forgotten in a week.

Korea Lies Translations, Feb 28, 2004
02.27.04 (9:09 am)   [edit]
I sometimes wonder why I even do this. The Korea Lies is such a journalistic abortion in makes me laugh. I can't imagine anyone actually paying for it. Here goes, and I will only fisk parts.

http://times.hankooki.com/lpage/200402/kt200402 2716332210440.htm" title="http://times.hankooki.com/lpage/200402/kt200402 2716332210440.htm" target="_blank"http://times.hankooki.com/lpa...

Wang also described the atmosphere of Friday's discussions as ``positive and beneficial,'' according to Liu, who took a very cautious attitude about the possibility of the second round of talks ending without a joint statement.

Translation: Same shit, different day. The Norks cannot change their stance because of the vital concept of "face" which is causing millions of their people to freeze and starve. Added to this, "face" has retarded Asian social development for thousands of years.

South Korea's Vice Foreign Minister and chief delegate Lee Soo-hyuck also revealed the difficult course of drafting the statement among various parties. ``We are exerting efforts to draw up the statement, but it might not be issued if we fail to agree,'' he told a news conference.

We are trying to convince the Yankees to give the Dear Leader everything he wants using "New Diplomacy." Of course, with our grand 5000 years of history, Amercia must do all the paying.

North Korea, the United States and the four other nations involved had an intense plenary session on the third day of the nuclear parley, as it entered the final phase of announcing results.

Now that is good. Talk about loaded copy. "North Koera, the United States and the other four nations...." This is nothing but boosterims for NK's position. Sickening.

a tradeoff between Pyongyang's nuclear ``freeze'' and other negotiating nations' ``compensation'';a tradeoff between Pyongyang's nuclear ``freeze'' and other negotiating nations' ``compensation'';

Notice how the positions of the other four nations, China, Russia, America and Japan, that Korea must eliminate it's nuke programme before anything happens is not even mentioned, making them look like the villians. NK was amply "compensated: in 1994 and did not for one second intend to honour the agreement.

But the six parties are expected to undergo a tough stage of negotiations at the last moment, as the two main sides, the U.S. and the North, are refusing to budge an inch from their positions.

That is 100% correct. Time is on America's side. The longer it takes for NK to make concessions, the sooner the regime will collapse. This is America's tactic and the Dear Leader knows it. Threat and bluster have been done so many times they do not work anymore.

Though authorized officials refused to confirm, the U.S. and Russian delegations were even said to have walked out of a vice chief delegates' meeting on Friday afternoon as they faced enormous difficulties in ironing out differences.

Translation: the Norks went on their beserk mode again, one that is so well known now that people just walk out on it.

The issue will be further discussed in Saturday's extra session of all parties, which will try to find some common ground for the joint statement.

Pure theatre. America and Japan, who swing the lead here, have no intention of giving anything to the Dear Leader that would allow him to continue his horrible regime. It is all theatre now. NK is slowly and steadily dying. America and Japan have cut their cash off and are tightening the noose.

Glad somebody has some balls.

Poiboy, sending my viruses does not work
02.26.04 (6:26 pm)   [edit]
Pooper,

I know I send you into fits of anger but sending me viruses does not work. Here is why:

1. I do not ever open an attachment from anybody I do not know.

2. I use Yahoo mail which is about as virus resistant as it gets.

3. I have the online McAffee which is the best in the business.

4. I also have Zone Alarm Pro if you ever think of trying to hack me.

Pooper is now playing "Secret Agent Man," running from PC Room to PC Room on his mission to troll Korea Bloggers (how pathetic is that!). Here is the latest:

02.25.04 (11:12 pm)   [edit]
Pooper,

Do you ever wonder why you sit in PC Rooms at 2:00am? Normal people are sleeping so that they can get up early and go to their jobs.

Now, why are you looking at this? All the important things in the world happen before 10:00 am. I schedule all my appointments at 10:00 or 9:00 if I can.

Why? Because in business, you only can get in two appointments a day when you add travel time and lunch. As much as I have tried, I cannot get business done over the phone or e-mail.

Pooper, if your want to make something of your life, you have to finish you education and get in the groove. Your English is excellent and I know you are intelligent.

I am sure you could make something of yourself if you tried.

Two Koreas Meet Before Talks Start

We will try one more time separate the scum traitors, oops, our fraternal brothers, from the Yankee Imperialists.

By Ryu Jin
Korea Times Correspondent

And agent of Pyongyang.

BEIJING _ South Korean negotiators held a meeting with their North Korean counterparts last night on the eve of the six-party talks to end the standoff over Pyongyang's nuclear programs. The talks officially get underway on Wednesday.

Does the word "negotiators" exist in Korean?

Lee Su-hyuck, Seoul's chief delegate, explained his country's position regarding the second round of talks and tried to gain a better understanding of the North's stance during the closed-door session, according to sources here.

I am sure Lee heard lots of stuff about reunification, Minjok and Juche and really wanted to believe alot of it. He also heard demands for billions in aid and cash.

In the first round of talks last August, the first encounter between the two Koreas took place only after the main session officially kicked off.

And did not last very long. I assume the Nork's did not use very flattering language as they were in bellicose stage. Note the 1994 agreement was inked in August...before winter set in.

In yet another positive sign, Pyongyang sounded an upbeat note saying conditions have improved since the first round of negotiations. ``The circumstances of the talks are better than the previous ones,'' chief negotiator Kim Gye-gwan was quoted by China's Xinhua news agency as saying as he left his country on Tuesday morning.

Not a damned thing has changed on the American side. The Norks are almost thorugh a freezing, starving winter and famines are worst during planting, that is assuming the famine stricken have not eaten all their seed stock and the the animals they rely on for motive power and fertiliser. It is the Norks that have given in thus far.

Delegations from four other nations, including the United States, Japan, Russia and China, attended a dinner party at Diaoyutai State Guest House in Beijing, hosted by China's Executive Vice Foreign Minister Dai Bingguo.

And who was absent? Comrade Roh and the Keystone Commies. So much for "New Diplomacy."

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wang Yi will chair this week's talks again as his country's chief delegate, while the Japanese and Russian teams are headed by Mitoji Yabunaka and Alexander Losyukov.

The Chinese are sick and tired of their basket case "Ally" as much as America with theirs. The granting of the Chair to the Chinese is extremely significant. Both parites want the Koreans to shut up. Comrade Roh's sacking of Minister Yoon in January ended SK's seat at the Grown-up's table.

They will try to issue a joint communique before ending the talks Friday, but officials say the talks could be extended depending on the situation. Two-way meetings between Pyongyang and Washington are also expected on the sidelines of the main multi-party sessions, which take place around a hexagonal table.

This is the Pyongyang line being expressed by the Korea Lies. No way America will deal directly with the Dear Leader this time.

Seoul, Washington and Tokyo have been coordinating their positions closely in pursuit of an ultimate dismantling of the North's nuclear program, including the alleged one based on highly enriched uranium (HEU).

The events of the last year have told Seoul that if it does not follow the nation that pays for it's security, it had better be prepared for more troop withdrawals.

Experts say the alleged HEU program will largely dominate the second round of talks. Disclosure of each party's position on the issue is expected in the keynote speech in today's main session.

America's, China's, Russia's and Japan's positions are pretty clear; destruction of the programme or NO AID and more sanctions.

The North Korean nuclear standoff began in October 2002, when U.S. officials claimed that the North admitted to having a clandestine nuclear weapons development program in violation of the 1994 international agreement.

Korea Lie Alert! Korea Lie Alert. When Richard Kelly was in NK in October 2001, the Norks openly boasted about having cheated on the 1994 agreement. They were on a roll and thought that the Americans would pony up again and the Japanese would also to get the families of the abductees back. A year before they got the South to pay up for the summit and commit billions for projects that the North has no intention of finishing.

However, they could not have picked a worse time. For a state that is usually so poltically astute, they really pissed in the soup that time. There was no way the Bush adminstration was EVER going to give in to blackmail from ANYONE and certainly not after 9-11.

In the 28 months since then, aid to NK has been systematically shut down. Even Medicenes Sans Frontiers has left and they stuck thorugh the Russians in Afghanistan. There is nobody in NK now to guage what is happening there at the moment.

My guess the situation is the worst it has ever been and that it will become worse this spring. Hence the concessions.

The USA is going for regime change. I do not support much of what the Bush adminstration does but I do 100% on this issue. Appeasing the Dear Leader only dooms millions to starvation, privation and torture.

Like the coward that he is, he will lay low for a while. He knows that people are looking for him. It is not that hard to spot a deranged kyopo in a PC Room at two in the morning. Anyway, the Korean police told me to forward any information I have on him as soon as I recieve it.

I did just that, even before I posted this. poiboy, I have also figured out how to track you from your posts in my comments section.

This is one kind of sums up how I feel about poiboy-shin-seaof-jstbrw. It comes from Kevin's site:

I would like to address the above poster/troll (sea of Japan?). Please, please take a good, honest look in the mirror. How old are you? Can't you think of more productive things to do? Find a hobby, an ambition, structure. Maturity and adulthood are not so bad. Exercise and find a girlfriend. Plase for your sake.. you don't want to wake up some day being a 40-year-old virgin who wasted all his time antagonizing people (who only seem to be encouraging you further) on blog sights. You have more potential than this. Time to grow up.
friend

I really do not feel any anger towards him at all. Only pity.

Hmmm. Seems like I have been a victim of my own ignorance. I actually was naïve enough (a while back) to believe the moron was using his/her own email address. Must have been the lack of kimchi in my diet, eh wot? Let me apologize for that...

Next: Please send the offending poster to Texas after you catch them. We have places for him/her to spend some time contemplating where they went wrong. And they can learn in intimate detail the meaning of such exciting phrases as "¡por favor, no mas!"...

Somewhat less sympathetic than I.

Lux Bearer really deserves our sympathy. We're all so much better off than him, right? I have my issues, but easily keep them in perspective by reminding myself of how hard it must be to be Lux. Poor guy. Gotta be hard going through life like that.

I found the following on the internet, and hope it will be of help to him find some meaning in his life.

I agree with this one however the first step in solving a problem is admitting there is one. I am sure poiboy-lux-sea-of-kabrot will lay low now, plotting his "revenge" as if anybody cares.

So the question is, who was using a PC at 02:21 on the 24th of February, in Death Knight PC Game Plaza, Namgajwa2-dong 5 168, Seodaemun-gu, SEOUL? Maybe we should all ask Mr. Hyunseok Yu, admin, at 019.257.7991, b4017412@users.bora.net???

Good detective work, dda. I sent a copy of seaofpoiboy's work to the PC room owner and had a friend's wife call him. Seems Mr Yu remembers a Korean-American with a rather frenzied look hammering away at 2:20 am. I also spoke to a policeman friend of mine who referred the case to the anti-Spam police unit. Apparently such acts by Korean nationals such as seaofpoi are taken quite seriously.

Jeff simply deleted it as did Flying Yangban.

Shin-sea-jstbrw-kabrot-ja pan, you are free to post anything you like in my comments any time you want.

I do not have any malice towards you. I have a nice life with my familiy here. Thinking of you sitting in a PC Room at 2:20 am thinking you are on some sort of mission makes me pity you.

One of those days
02.22.04 (8:46 pm)   [edit]
Today was one of those days that make up for all the rainy weather we get here on the Wet Coast. Brilliant sunshine, fresh snow on the mountains and warm temperatures, all while the rest of the country freezes.

There is a large playground in Steveston and the kids just love it. Yesterday, we went to the pool. The kids loved the wave pool. Mom and Dad can sit in the whirlpool and watch the kids at the same time. Family price is $12.00, well worth it. This is the reason we left Korea, there was nothing to do as a family. My sister tagged along today and we all had a great time.

We also went to the docks and bought a big mess of fresh shrimp. Cooked them up with an alfredo sauce, caesar on the side. Mmmmmm.

Friday afternoon I had no classes after lunch and went to Simon Fraser University to check out grad programmes. I am kind of torn between the ESL Master's programme or Asian and Pacific studies. ESL runs evenings so that is probably what I will do and SFU is not that far from the school I work at now. Besides, the Asian thing is slipping from memory pretty quickly now.

No doubt when I am crawling up Granville St tomorrow morning at 8:00 am it will be pouring again.

The main reason we moved back to Canada was for more oppurtunities for culture and recreation for our kids. The facilities available to the public here are fantastic, BTW.

Our favourite hang-out is the Richmond Public Library. I got home from work at 5:00 and off we went before dinner.

At the entrance to the parking lot was a stopped Porsche Cayenne S. Stopped and waiting for a car to leave. Not that there was actually a car leaving at that moment. She was intent to wait as long as it took.

After about five minutes, I honked at her. Nothing, no movement. There was a long line of cars growing so I got out of my van and said, "Lady, you have to keep moving here." She ignored me. After a few more minutes, about five of us were yelling at her to move the car. Plain rude, thinks I.

Later, at the check-out, she was ranting in broken English about not getting a library card. The librarian explained that she needed to be a citizen, have a student visa or landed immigrant status.

She ranted about how rich she was and waved her passport. Eventually security took her away.

And where was that passport from?

Korea.

Cowards are very predictable pieces of shit. Look at seaofretard. He is a classic racist; he hates from afar and cannot face revealing his identity. A classic coward.

seaofretard thinks he is so smug and smart but he always hides. Why? Because cowards are afraid to stand for what they say they believe in or if they do, they do it with 2,000 of their retard friends in retard white hoods.

seaofretard, your shit has been all over the net and quite frankly, you look like a blithering idiot. That is because you ARE a blithering idiot.

I do not care for racism in any way, it is simply a waste of energy and effort. However, I tend to excuse the ignorant and try to educate them. I am a teacher, after all.

Hagwans in Canada!
02.18.04 (9:28 am)   [edit]
Yes, it is true, the hagwan business here in Greater Vancouver is BOOMING! Why? Because the Asian kids cannot keep up in school. Why? Because eventhough most of them were born in Canada or at the very least came here as pre-schoolers, their English skills are not above casual conversation.

All the talk about "multi-culruralism" in Canada is just that; talk. The system is in English and it is run by native speakers. Not surprisingly, the vast majority of these people are of European origin. About ten years ago, the school system here realised that it could never provide enough ESL spaces and the programme was simply turfed; if your kid needs extra lessons, go pay for them. Another example: the government used to provide intrepreters of the driving test. Not no more, you want an intrepreter, bring your own. I whole heartedly agree. Cry discrimination? My paternal great-grandfather was an indentured servant, my mother's side famine refugees. They harldly had it easy,

I am presently teaching several gorups of grade 11 and 12 students. Of course the dream of their parents is to get them into UBC. BUT....UBC has instituted a programme where every non-native speaking student must pass TOEFL with a minimum of 550 to even apply for entrance. The biggest problem the kids have is culture. They do not pay attention to their teachers in highschool. They think that high test scores, which they can easily generate, are enough to get them thorugh.

Then comes the SLAM! English Placement Test and TOEFL. The greatest problem they have is with the essay. They have never learned how to make an argument, support it and conclude it.

I recently lasted two weeks at one hagwan. Why? I was there to teach essay writing for TOEFL. I was supposed to give sample topics and provide an example essay, according to the boss, also Chinese. I tried it and ALL the kids copied it verbatum. This is hardly conducive with passing TWE where a random essay will be generated. However, the boss could not get his mind wrapped around this concept: if you want to succeed in this country, you need to know how to think.

Greater Vancouver is now over 60% Asian but if you look at the halls of power here, you see very few Asian faces. Why well, if you think TWE is hard, try LSAT.

Bennie the Banana Oh, Again, UGH!
02.16.04 (9:13 am)   [edit]
It contunues to amaze me what a piece of shit Benny the Banana Oh is and now shameless his boosterism for Conrade Roh is the Keystone Commies is. Here is his latest abortion: http://times.hankooki.com/lpa...

As usual I will limit myself but suffice to say that Bennie the Banana has the hate on for Samsung because Lee Kun hee is a lot more successful than Bennie the Banana and does not back Comrade Roh, which no sane business person would. Lee Kun-hee is also from Honam and the powers that be in Korea now from Cholla. So much for "inclusive" politics that Comrade Roh campaigned for.

As one of the country’s oldest corporate entities, Samsung is bound to be conservative. One of examples is that it has no labor unions active at any of its numerous subsidiaries.

It is also the engine that drives Korea's sick economy. If you want to run Korea down the drain really fast, close down Samsung which is about the only chebol that ACTUALLY MAKES MONEY! Samsung alone is responsible for over 30% of Korea's forex earnings. Why? Because it is run like a business, you retard, Bennie the Banana. Samsung tolerates none of the Pyongyang sponsored union schanigans that have crippled other companies and driven them to ruin. Instead Samsung pays extremely well, provides excellent benefits but demands one thing: TOTAL loyalty. This formula has made Samsung a global player, something not seen by Cholla Frogs like Bennie the Shitbag.

Last week, prosecutors said that they found that Samsung, Korea’s No. 1 conglomerate and the world’s top semiconductor maker, had illegally given 22 billion won to the Grand National Party (GNP) before the 2002 presidential election.

Well, what else is new? This is the Korean system but look what racist shitbag Bennie is not saying:
That Comrade Roh extorted just as much as Han-nara-dang did and is now tring to sweep the whole thing under the rug. He even talked about pardons yesterday. What is revolting here is how the Korea Lies cannot see the incongruty of Racist Bennie the Banana Shitbag's piece today and it's copy of yesteday. Talk about editorial consistancy, or lack thereof.

First and foremost, Lee violated the first rule of investment and committed a cardinal sin as businessman by placing all his eggs in one basket, in this case on the presidential candidate who lost. Nowadays, even a novice investor knows that he or she has to develop a portfolio of investments to spread the risk.

Priceless: Lee Kun-hee, the most successful businessman in Korean history, the guy who, when I was working for him in 1995, was already tossing the retards foisted on his company by incompetent beaurocrats out the door with Golden Handshakes by the thousand, backed the wrong horse. His company emerged from the 1997 Crash stronger than ever, lean and focused and makes bags of money. Bennie the Rasicst Banana shitbag is calling for revenge and persecution because Lee Kun-hee correctly did not back Bennie's man, Comrade Roh. Brilliant, Bennie.

As we all know, the 2002 presidential election was seen as a duel between change and status quo; old and new, conservative and progressive. Roh Moo-hyun represented the new ideas, progressive thinking and the wind of change, while Lee Hoi-chang as a proponent of conservative ideology, stood the for the old way of thinking.

This is my favourtie theme of the Korea Lies at he moment, that Comrade Roh is somehow progressive. HORSESHIT! Lee Hoi-chung represented the Park Chung-hee generation of 70 somethings that come from Honam. They are sitting on a mountain of cash. Comrade Roh represents the next generation that comes from Cholla. "Reform" means, in the Korean context, getting that mountain of cash from Honam and moving it to Cholla. It has absolutely nothing to do with social justice whatsoever. It is all about regionalism and every Korean over age 40 knows this.

Samsung represents everything about Honam that Bennie the Shitbag Scum hates. For years it would not allow anyone from Cholla inside. Samsung runs just like a military camp and has no time for internecine squabbles. It strives to make good products are fair prices and give a good return to it's shareholders. However, this is not what the Cholla tribe wants. Look at any opinionl poll in this regards and you will see that 30% of people, almost all from Cholla, think that the chebol's major focus should be on providing social welfare. There is no concept of the cut-throat competition a company like Samsung faces in market like here in Canada. In their mind, embodied by Comrade Roh and the Keystone Commies, it is more important to 1) Shake-down Lee Kun-hee for backing the wrong horse and 2) force him to build welfare projects in guess where, Cholla, than to make sure his company can compete with the likes of Nokia and Sony.

Guess where Bennie the Banana Shitbag is from?

America!

But his family is from Kwang-ju. Big surprise!

Shit Jong-il and others
02.15.04 (8:32 pm)   [edit]
I stated in previous entries how I have nothing but respect for the working people in Korea. This included the Ajumma who carries lunch on her head, the seamstress who refused to take money for work done for me because her Grand-daugther was my student, the shop keeper who lent me W100,000 when I was broke.

What I detest about Korea is people like Shit Jong-il. Here is a blithering moron who contributes absolutely nothing to Korean society. He and his fellow Retard "Netizen" buddies have nothing better to do but surf the net to defend Korea's "honour."

Bloody pathetic it is. I mean, how lame is it for throngs of unemployed retards to surf the net looking for refrences to "The Sea of Japan." Christ, if Japan weren't in the way it would be the Pacific Ocean, for fuck's sake!

Korean history is sadly full to Shit Jong-il-Lux-Loser types. Their egos are so large that they will drag their nation into the outhouse rather than do an honest day's work.

However, white trash like "seaofjapan" are even worse. Shit jong-il really does not not know better. Seaofidiot: What the hell are you doing in Korea, you moron?

Random Korea Lies, Feb 15
02.15.04 (9:11 am)   [edit]
It still amazes me how the Korea Lies can print this kind of crap. Even more amazing is how Koreans have ZERO concept of Rule of Law. The latest dredge of hate is Robert (Benedict) Kim. In case you have been in a cave for the last few years, Kim was convicted of passing classified US Navy documents to South Korean intelligence officers. He even admitted doing it, said he knew what he was doing was illegal but justified it because of his Korean blood and the "alliance" with America.

Despite the crime in the U.S, Kim has won wide sympathy and support among many South Koreans. Internet fan clubs have been formed and prayer meetings have been held to support him.

Sorry Netizenassholes. Under English common law, once one is convicted, it is EXTREMELY difficult to get that conviction overturned, especially when HE PLEADED GUILTY. Unlike in Korea, he cannot be released because "he meant well."

Here is a great example of Korea Lies Quality http://times.hankooki.com/lpa...

The article starts on how USFK, reviled by every media outlet in Korea save the Chosun Ilbo as a club of rapist monsters, should remain in Korea even after reunification. I will not comment on that other than it is typical of the Korea elite wanting it's cake and having the dirty waygooks pay for it.

Then the piece rambles to the latest scandals. Turn out that Comrade Roh is just as much a crook as anyone.

He expressed opposition to possible punishment of business leaders, making short references to the ongoing prosecution investigation into slush campaign fund involving major conglomerates.

Comrade Roh was shaking down the cheabol as much as Han-nara-dang ever did except the cheabol backed the wrong horse. An example needed to be made but it got out of control. Why, you ask? Because in Korea, "Reform" means that your cronies do the stealing, not the other guys. Daewoo is already lost and LG is shakey. This really affects the cash flow to the elite.

Of course Daewoo is still (mostly) in operation and LG Card's debt will be nationalised. This way the graft channels remain.

It is the peasants that have to pay for it.

He acknowledged the need to carry out a major pardon during his tenure. ``It will be possible for the government to conduct the pardon once the people support it, after the government guarantees a corruption-free society.

This is so awful I do not even need to comment on it.

Comments, et al
02.15.04 (8:51 am)   [edit]
I really welcome comments. I do BUT...keep it reasonable, OK. Seaofjapan, I have seen you post your garbage all over the net and frankly, I want no part of it. It makes you look like an idiot. There is a clear line between commenting on experiences and bad taste.

I have no quarrel with 90% fo the population of Korea. In fact I really admire the working people, the taxi drivers, the dry cleaners, the shop keepers. They are the ones that built Korea and are now getting screwed by the "elite."

It is the "elite" of Korea that I detest, the new Yangban. This is the government, the civil servantsm, the media and the universities. They are parastites on the society and are sucking it down. At least half of Korean university grads will not get jobs this year. What will they do? NOTHING! They see themselves as too good for work and will either continue to "study" or do absolutely fuck all.

This strata of slime runs pretty much everything in Korea and especially the media. It is they I slam in my rants, not the 90% of people in Korea who I think are really gracious, industrious people.

Which gets me back to comments. I have had to either turn off the comments or restrict them. I do not want to do that again. Seaofjapan, you are not welcome here. I do not know where you hatred comes from but take it somewhere else. Same goes for politically correct geeks; don't like what I write, then hit "Back."

Why do White Guys Stay so Long?
02.10.04 (8:25 am)   [edit]
You know, I do not personally know a single expat who really likes Korea. They are all there for various reasons that usually revolve around fear of change and those of finance, my reasons, anyway.

I was just reading a famous blog witten by a Game Room owner. Seems that smarmy Korea boys (the most revolting creatures on the planet, in my experience) are causing him a lot of aggro. I fucking hated them and wondered how such behaviour could be tolerated in any society. Hell, if a kid did this kind of thing here in Canada he would be casitgated and wangta in about ten seconds.

But I digress. There are a few reasons to be in Korea;

1. Hot Chicks. Korean chicks are great fucks, no doubt about it. The look great and that famous Korean passion make them fantastic between the sheets.

2. Easy work. If you are working more than five hours a day in Korea and making less that W2.5m a month, you are a loser.

3. Vacation: Why in the hell would anyone stay in that hell hole for less than three months off a year?

4. Cheap booze.

Now, I have been in Canada for a week. I have had a reply from every job I have applied for an landed one that pays better than the scam degree mill I used to suffer at. So much for not beging able to get employment argument. This seems to go a long way to explain the 20 something whities that inhabit Korean kiddie hagwans. Any 20 something in Canada with two brains to rub together is working here in a decent job, one that more than supports him/herself.

So I seriously ask long term expats this:

Why do you continue to be treated like a second class (or much lower) citizen in Korea? You cannot vote, get a loan or even a cell phone. You will always be treated as an inferior, your opinion will never be considered and you will be the first blamed for any problem.

Sure, I know that it is easy. I only worked about four hours a day. The rest of the time I sat in front of my computer trying to burn the other tweleve of so I was awake. The money? Especially for Americans, that cannot be much of a draw.

Looking forward to comments.

Korea Lies, Feb 9
02.08.04 (10:29 pm)   [edit]
It has always amazed me how sloppy the research of Korea Lies reporters is and even more how awful the editing. The latest is in regards to a net meeting with Korean Morons with no Lives (aka Netizens) and USFK commander LaPorte. Here is classic Korea lies stuff:

The move came as anti-American sentiment spread across the country with a series of accidents committed by U.S. troop personnel. The latest incident was the toxic substance dumping into the Han River by Albert McFarland, an American civilian employee of the USFK.

Now this is really fishing for hate. I am sure most of my readers arfe familiar with the incident that happened almost four years ago! It is hardly the LATEST! This case is a classic example why America needs a SOFA to protect it's people from politically driven show trials. The fact is that the Northern driven agenda and infiltration is South Korea fishes for even the most minor incident and keeps it going. Hell, McFarland was sentenced to pay a W5,000,000 fine and in fact did so. Talk about double jepordy!

I also blame America for taking as much shit as it does. If I were American I would in no way be even considering discussing anything with a bunch of wankers who make up lies and tell them so often they believe them. There is no way LaPorte will ever have the chance to explain facts such as how USFK member's have a crime rate that is miniscule compared to the Korean population.

The issue has been beaten to death and it is time for Ameirca to split from Korea, the sooner the better.

As an aside, if there are any "Netizens" reading this, in the week I have been in Canada Korea has not been mentioned EVEN ONCE in the media. Why? Because Korea is an insignificant pissant country full of cry-babies. Canada absolute SKOMES Korea in every way. The streets are safe and clean, people are civil to each other and in the multi-cultural melting pot I live in (Vancouver) people are decent to each other.

And I can drink the tap water.

Kimchpig in Canada!
02.06.04 (12:31 pm)   [edit]
Hi Loyal Readers,

Well, the Piglets and I are now in Canada. What a difference from ten years ago. The next time a Korean tells me how great the internet in Korea is, I will reply that "Canada is better!" The ADSL I have here ROCKS and is actually cheaper than Thrunet does. I am getting over one meg a second consistantly and my neighbour advises me to complain because they say 1.7!

I have not had two thoughts about Korea since I came home. To any Korean who says "Foreigners cannot get jobs in their home countries" I reply "Fuck You!" I got a job after being off the plane for two days and it pays better than I made in Korea. Buddha only knows why I stayed in that craphole for as long as I did.

Korea better? Electronics like DVD and VHS platers are half the price here. Cell phone? Well, for a $50 phone I can get unlimited local air time for $40 a month.

Korea better? I have a library card. I can borrow all the movies and DVDs I want. In the same complex there is a swimming pool and arena. Costs $3.00 to go swimming.

We are glad we made the move. I will have a look at the Korean media and get back to ranting.
